Our ratings (out of 10)

1 to 10, compared with the whole market. Each says what it's based on. How we score

Weight

From maker's figures 5/10

How much it adds to your pack. This is the whole tent: two people sharing can split it. 5: Does the job. Average for wild-camping gear.

Wild Country's minimum weight is 1.9 kg (2.13 kg with pegs, lines and bags), in the 1.5-1.99 kg band.

Rain protection

From maker's figures 8/10

How well it keeps out heavy, long rain. 8: Clearly better than most.

Flysheet 4,000 mm HH is in the 3,000 mm+ band and the 5,000 mm groundsheet is over 2,000 mm, so no points are taken off. (Tiso's description says a 5,000 mm flysheet, but Wild Country's spec table says 4,000 mm, so we use that.) The printed figure alone gives 8 at most: a 9 or 10 needs 3 reviews that say it stays dry in real storms.

Wind

Estimate from maker's specs: maker's season rating (fewer than 3 reviews about wind) 5/10

How steady it stays in strong wind on open ground. 5: Does the job. Average for wild-camping gear.

No published review says how it copes with wind, so this is an estimate from the maker's season rating.

Space

From maker's figures 6/10

Room to lie, sit up and keep kit inside. 6: A bit better than average.

Wild Country's floor plan gives an inner 222 x 120 cm: 2.22 x 1.20 = 2.66 m², divided by 2 people = 1.33 m² each, in the 1.15-1.34 band (a plain rectangle, so the real floor may be a little less). Mr. Wild Wales found it a little narrow for two but with plenty of room for one, and each side has a 54 cm porch.

Packed size

From maker's figures 4/10

How much room it takes in your rucksack. 4: A bit below average.

Wild Country's packed size 32 x 20 cm, rolled as a cylinder: 3.1416 x 10 x 10 x 32 = 10,053 cm³, so 10.05 L, just inside the 10-14.9 L band. Some shops still list the older 35 x 17 cm figure, which would be 7.9 L (band 3).

In short

Good for

  • Two people sharing on three-season wild camps who want a freestanding tent under 2 kg
  • Couples who want a door and a porch each (two 54 cm porches)
  • Camping on hard or stony ground where you can't rely on pegs, because it stands up without them

Strengths

  • 1.9 kg minimum weight for a freestanding two-person double-skin tent
  • Two side doors and two porches, so no climbing over each other
  • Flysheet 4,000 mm HH and groundsheet 5,000 mm HH, with taped seams
  • Fly and inner pitch together; a PitchLite flysheet-only option is possible
  • Recycled, PFC-free fabrics; subtle blue-grey colour that is not intrusive in woodland (Mr. Wild Wales)

Weaknesses

  • No independent wind or long-term durability test of this 2025 model found, so those scores are blank
  • Inner is nearly solid with only two small vents, so condensation is a risk on damp nights
  • Packed size is 10.05 L, so it takes more rucksack room than lighter 2 kg tents
  • Narrow for two (120 cm wide) if you use wide mats; Mr. Wild Wales found it a little tight
  • The 20D nylon fabrics are thin: use a footprint on rough ground
