Our ratings (out of 10)
1 to 10, compared with the whole market. Each says what it's based on. How we score
Weight
From maker's figures 5/10How much it adds to your pack. This is the whole tent: two people sharing can split it. 5: Does the job. Average for wild-camping gear.
The maker's trail weight (tent, fly and poles) is 1.8 kg, in the 1.5–1.99 kg band; 2.01 kg with pegs, lines and bags.
Rain protection
From maker's figures 8/10How well it keeps out heavy, long rain. 8: Clearly better than most.
Flysheet is 4,000 mm HH, in the 3,000 mm+ band, and the 5,000 mm groundsheet is over 2,000 mm so there is no deduction. The printed figure alone gives 8 at most: a 9 or 10 needs 3 reviews that say it stays dry in real storms.
Wind
Estimate: only 2 reviews about wind (fewer than the 3 we need, so never above 8) 8/10How steady it stays in strong wind on open ground. 8: Clearly better than most.
Not enough evidence: only 2 independent sources (Live for the Outdoors, Great British Adventure Club) say anything specific about wind, and both are positive. Advnture only says it performs well in a range of conditions.
Space
From maker's figures 9/10Room to lie, sit up and keep kit inside. 9: Among the best you can buy for this.
Terra Nova gives only the outside size, so we use Fresh Air Junkie's spec table (also quoted by Advnture): inner 220 cm long by 77 cm wide, 220 x 77 = 16,940 cm², or 1.69 m², in the 1.6 m²+ band. This is one width figure for a sloping inner, so the real floor is probably smaller: Advnture's 177 cm tester touched both ends lying straight.
Packed size
From maker's figures 5/10How much room it takes in your rucksack. 5: Does the job. Average for wild-camping gear.
Maker's packed size 35 x 19 x 19 cm, rolled as a cylinder: 3.1416 x 9.5 x 9.5 x 35 = 9,923 cm³, so 9.9 L, in the 7–9.9 L band (the older 35 x 17 cm figure some shops still list would be 7.9 L, also band 3).
What reviewers say (out of 10)
Ratings marked * are from reviews and are not part of the trip score. They are reviewers' scores, not our own measurements. How we score
Pitching*
Reviewers' average 9/10How quickly and easily one person can pitch it, including in wind and rain.
3 reviews on pitching, e.g. "I managed to get it up in four minutes and 30 seconds flat".
In short
Good for
- Pitching in rain, as the inner and fly go up together
- People under about 1.83 m tall who like room to sit up and a big porch for kit
Strengths
- Freestanding, so it goes up on hard or stony ground and can be moved once pitched
- Inner and fly pitch as one, so the inside stays dry when pitching in rain
- Reviewers call it tough, including through a Welsh winter storm
- Waterproof fabrics on paper: 4,000 mm fly and 5,000 mm floor, with sealed seams
- Two porches (one front, one rear) give plenty of kit storage
Weaknesses
- At 1.8 kg minimum (2.01 kg all in) it is not light for a one-person tent
- Rated 3 season by the maker, so not meant for winter or snow
- Tight for tall people: Advnture's 177 cm tester found head and feet lightly touching the inner, and says anyone near 1.83 m will struggle to sprawl out
- Reviews we found were of the earlier fabrics; the 2025 update (recycled, solution-dyed fabrics) has no independent reviews yet
- One reviewer says the flysheet feels cheaper than on premium tents
- Single entrance
