Our ratings (out of 10)
1 to 10, compared with the whole market. Each says what it's based on. How we score
Weight
From maker's figures 7/10How much it adds to your pack. 7: Better than most.
Vango gives 0.1 kg and its copy says 'weighing just 100 grams', in the 60-119 g band. The soft storage bag is in the box; Vango does not say whether the 100 g includes it.
Packed size
From maker's figures 6/10How much room it takes in your rucksack. 6: A bit better than average.
Vango's dimensions line reads L6.0 x H10.5 x W6.0 cm. Two sizes are equal, so we work it as a roll 10.5 cm long and 6 cm across: about 0.30 L, in the 0.2-0.59 L band (as a box it is 0.38 L, the same band). Vango's spec table also lists 'Height 9.5 cm' and 'Width 10.5 cm', which do not match that line; with no third size they give no volume, so we use the complete dimensions line.
Boil speed (still air)
From maker's figures 4/10How fast the maker says it boils 1 litre in still air. Wind slows every stove: see Wind performance. 4: A bit below average.
Vango's copy gives a 1 litre boil of 5 min 20 s using the windshield built into the stove (320 s), in the 300-479 s band. It is the only boil figure; no independent test of this stove was found.
Wind performance
Estimate from maker's specs: windshield in the box 5/10How well it keeps boiling in a breeze, as sold, without an extra windshield. 5: Does the job. Average for wild-camping gear.

In short
Good for
- A cheap back-up or first stove for walkers who already have a small pot
- Cooking for one on a standard screw-on gas canister (EN417 butane/propane)
Strengths
- Vango gives 100 g and a small folded size of 10.5 x 6 x 6 cm
- 4.0 kW burner (Vango) with a built-in stainless steel windshield and a soft storage bag
- Folding legs and angled pot stands for a wide range of pot sizes (Vango)
- Vango's burn-time estimate at full flame is 94 minutes on a 450 g canister and 48 minutes on a 230 g canister
Weaknesses
- No independent review or test of this stove was found, so wind performance and control have no score
- Vango's 5 min 20 s for 1 litre is slow for a gas stove, even with its windshield
- A gas stove that sits on the canister: canister gas loses pressure in the cold, and Vango gives no cold rating, so we do not mark it winter-ready
- Never wrap a windshield round the gas canister: it can overheat and burst
