Our ratings (out of 10)

Estimate from maker's specs
Weight
Estimate from maker's specs: glove type (no weight published) 3/10How much they add to your pack. 3: Below average. Fine for some trips, not others.

Waterproofing
From maker's figures 10/10How well they keep your hands dry and the wind out, from how they are made. 10: The best you can buy for this.
A named GORE-TEX membrane with no published mm figure is the top waterproofing band (a sealed insert from a named membrane maker). Trekmates lists the GORE-TEX technology as 'durably waterproof, windproof and breathable', with an insert of 62% ePTFE and 38% polyamide. Trekmates' mitt page repeats the glove's 'touch screen compatible forefinger tip' line; a mitt has no separate forefinger, so we show no touchscreen use.
In short
Good for
- Cold, wet winter walking and snow days where warmth matters more than finger control
- Standing around in the cold: a mitt keeps the fingers together
- Winter hillwalking when the weather is the main problem
Strengths
- GORE-TEX insert with a DWR polyamide outer, for waterproof and windproof protection
- 80 g polyester hollow fibre insulation and a brushed microfleece lining
- PU leather palm, pre-curved fingers and a drawcord at the cuff
- Elasticated wrist with a tether loop
Weaknesses
- Trekmates publishes no weight, so there is no weight score
- No independent review found, so warmth, dexterity and durability scores are blank
- Earlier Chamonix mitten listings at other shops carry different barcodes: check the product code before buying
