Our ratings (out of 10)
1 to 10, compared with the whole market. Each says what it's based on. How we score
Weight
From maker's figures 6/10How much it adds to your pack. 6: A bit better than average.
Trangia lists 350 g for the whole set in the Weight (g) row of its spec table: 0.8 litre pan, 15 cm non-stick frying pan lid, spirit burner with simmer ring, pot stand and handle. That is in the 350-449 g band. Redswede Outdoors reads the same 350 g from Trangia's paperwork and Sort Of Interesting weighed 354 g without fuel. Shops list 330 g (Ultralight Outdoor Gear) to 350 g (Heinnie); we band Trangia's figure.
Fuel use
Estimate from maker's specs: fuel type (no fuel use figure published) 1/10How much fuel it burns to boil a litre in calm air: less fuel to carry. 1: A real weak point.
Estimate from maker's specs
Boil speed (calm air)
From maker's figures 1/10How fast the maker says it boils 1 litre in calm air. 1: A real weak point.
Trangia gives 10 minutes for 1 litre on its spirit burner (600 s), in the 480 s and over band; the burner page lists the Mini among the sets it fits. The Mini pan holds only 0.8 litre, so this is Trangia's 1 litre burner figure, which is the one the method bands (as on the MSR PocketRocket 2 Mini Kit, whose pan is also under 1 litre). Cut to 0.8 litre the time would still be in the same band.

In short
Good for
- Solo day walks and short overnight trips where one hot drink or a single-pot meal is enough
- Walkers who want a silent stove with no canister to carry
- Sheltered spots, or a breeze with your own foil or folding windshield
Strengths
- 350 g for pan, frying pan lid, burner, pot stand and handle (Trangia)
- Packs to 15 cm across and 6.7 cm high with the lid clipping shut, so no strap is needed (Redswede Outdoors)
- Silent burner with a simmer ring that also puts the flame out
- Reviewers find the pan stable on the stand, even when tilted (Redswede Outdoors, Off The Beaten Pot)
Weaknesses
- Boils 1 litre in 10 minutes by Trangia's figure (600 s); Sort Of Interesting took 7 minutes for one cup in a breeze
- No real windshield: the pot stand gives almost no protection, and reviewers add foil or a folding shield
- 0.8 litre pan, for one person only
- Tall, visible flame (Sort Of Interesting); the simmer ring is hit and miss (Sort Of Interesting) and the pot stand limits how far it opens (Redswede Outdoors)
- Rattles when packed unless the gaps are filled (Redswede Outdoors)
