Our ratings (out of 10)
1 to 10, compared with the whole market. Each says what it's based on. How we score
Weight
From maker's figures 6/10How much the empty rucksack adds to what you carry, as sold. 6: A bit better than average.
Decathlon lists 1,600 g for the one size, in the 1,500 to 1,999 g band, and says that is the weight of its benchmark sample.
Comfort with a full load
From reviews 9/10How well it carries a full camping load over a long day: hip belt, shoulder straps, back and how the weight sits. 9: Among the best you can buy for this.
Wild Camp Phil uses the pack for wild camps, with the tent in the sleeping-bag section, and calls the Easyfit adjustment the best he has used (scored 5 out of 5; no weight stated). SPADS ADVENTURES carried his tent, kitchen and sleeping bags on 10 or more mountains over 9 to 10 months and praised the ventilated back and the quick height adjustment (4; no weight stated). Decathlon customers rate carrying comfort 4.8 out of 5 on average, and many describe nights out with full kit: a 6-night camping trip, 4 to 6 night trips since 2022, a 5-day bivouac, a 3-day bivouac with tent, mat and bag, and 15 to 18 kg carried for years. Several say the shoulder straps dig in above about 12 to 15 kg, so we scored that source 4. Pierre Farrugia (free sample) found it comfortable packed heavy with full camping gear, but he gives no weight or night out, so he is not counted for comfort. The maker's limit is 20 kg.
Durability
From reviews 8/10How well the fabric, zips, buckles and frame hold up over seasons of use. 8: Clearly better than most.
Wild Camp Phil's much-used pack shows scuffs from rocks but has held up, and its front zip has never come open by itself (scored 4 out of 5). SPADS ADVENTURES had zips and seams intact after 9 to 10 months on 10 or more mountains and found the polyester very durable (4). Decathlon customers mostly report a sturdy pack, one using it for nearly 2,000 km over 50 or more winter days and another carrying 15 to 18 kg for years with only light wear on the hip-belt foam, but a few report a main zip that broke (one after 3 uses) or pushes open on an overfull pack, hip-belt straps that fray after a few years, or a bent frame bar (4). Farrugia's month of use is too short to count.

In short
Good for
- Multi-day hikes and wild camps on a tight budget: Decathlon buyers describe DofE expeditions, 4 to 6 night trips, a 5-day bivouac and a 3-week Camino walk, and Wild Camp Phil uses it for wild camps
- Walkers between sizes or sharing a pack: the back length adjusts from 41 to 53 cm by pulling one strap on each side
- Loads of about 12 to 15 kg or less: several Decathlon buyers find the shoulder straps dig in above that, though Decathlon states a 20 kg limit
Strengths
- Easyfit back system: one strap on each side moves the shoulder straps and sets back length and tension, even while walking; all three video reviewers rate it highly
- Aluminium stays and 1,600 g, with a 20 kg maximum load stated by Decathlon
- Three ways in: top opening, full-length front zip and a base zip to the sleeping-bag section
- Polyester body that has held up: zips and seams intact after 9 to 10 months on 10 or more mountains (SPADS ADVENTURES), scuffed but sound after much use (Wild Camp Phil)
Weaknesses
- Above about 12 to 15 kg several Decathlon buyers find the shoulder straps dig in or the weight starts to show on the back, well short of the 20 kg Decathlon states
- One zipped side pocket (SPADS ADVENTURES and Decathlon buyers) and a bottle holder set so far back that it is hard to reach with the pack on (Wild Camp Phil and a Decathlon buyer); a full bottle unbalanced the pack for SPADS ADVENTURES
- No lower straps for a mat or tent: Decathlon's page lists none, a Decathlon buyer notes the same, and SPADS ADVENTURES, who found the pack short of straps, added his own
- A few Decathlon buyers report the main zip broken (one after 3 uses) or pushed open by an overfull pack
- The rain cover is grey and hard to see in poor light (two buyers say so; one swapped it for an orange one)
- The polyester takes up water and gets heavier in long rain (SPADS ADVENTURES)
