Our ratings (out of 10)
1 to 10, compared with the whole market. Each says what it's based on. How we score
Brightness
From maker's figures 7/10How much light it gives at full power, for finding your way in the dark. 7: Better than most.
550 lumens in Max mode (4.5-7 hours), in the 500-799 band. Silva's page says its lumen values are measured 30 seconds after switching on to ANSI FL1.
Runtime
From maker's figures 9/10How long one charge or set of batteries lasts at a level you can walk and cook by. 9: Among the best you can buy for this.
Med mode runs 10-14 hours (maker's figure; the lower end is used), the longest mode of 80 lumens or more, in the 10 h+ band. Silva's page lists this mode as 200 lumens in its features and 250 lumens in its specification table; either way the band is 5. The 4.0 Ah battery is included.
Weight
From maker's figures 2/10How much it adds to your pack and your head. 2: A weak point.
Silva's page disagrees with itself: the specification table says 145 g with the battery (band 2) but the text says "the entire headlamp still only weighs 160 grams" with the included 4.0 Ah battery (band 1). We band the lower-scoring 160 g. The lamp and headband alone are about 61 g.

4 reviews on ease of use, e.g. "I love the interface super simple just press to scroll through the different brightnesses".

In short
Good for
- Long trail and ultra runs and night hikes that need hours of bright light
- Anyone who wants the battery in a pocket on a cord, away from the head
- A lamp that can also run on 3 AAA batteries as a backup
Strengths
- 550 lumens in Max mode and 10-14 hours in Med mode (Silva)
- 4.0 Ah (14.8 Wh) rechargeable battery and a Hybrid case for 3 AAA batteries both included
- Cord runs inside the headband, with a soft headband and a rear safety light
- IPX5, a red light and a 5-year warranty (2 years on the battery)
Weaknesses
- Heavy for a head torch: 160 g with the included 4.0 Ah battery (Silva's table says 145 g)
- IPX5 means rain is fine but it should not be dipped in water
- The AAA batteries are not included
- Comfort and beam are estimates, not reviewed scores: no independent reviews of this exact lamp found
