Our ratings (out of 10)
1 to 10, compared with the whole market. Each says what it's based on. How we score
Brightness
From maker's figures 6/10How much light it gives at full power, for finding your way in the dark. 6: A bit better than average.
450 lumens in Max mode (3 hours), in the 300-499 band. Silva's UK page says its lumen values are measured 30 seconds after switching on to ANSI FL1 (the Swedish store's page doesn't repeat this); the band is 3 either way.
Runtime
From maker's figures 7/10How long one charge or set of batteries lasts at a level you can walk and cook by. 7: Better than most.
The 200-lumen Med mode runs 6 hours on the built-in 1350 mAh battery (maker's figure), in the 6-9.9 h band. Max 450 lumens lasts 3 hours; the 10-lumen Min mode runs 90 hours but is under 80 lumens, so it doesn't count.
Weight
From maker's figures 8/10How much it adds to your pack and your head. 8: Clearly better than most.
Silva lists 69 g with the battery on both its UK and Swedish pages, in the 50-89 g band. Ultralight Outdoor Gear and UKHillwalking say 71 g, the same band.
In short
Good for
- Summer camping and hill days where a small, light lamp does the job
- A second or backup torch at 69 g
Strengths
- 200 lumens for 6 hours and 450 lumens for 3 hours (Silva)
- 69 g with the battery
- IPX5 and a button lock to stop it switching on in the pack
- Detachable lamp unit that clips onto other gear; red light mode
Weaknesses
- Only 450 lumens: UKHillwalking calls that middling and would not rely on it in the worst winter conditions
- IPX5 means rain is fine but it should not be dipped in water
- The 1350 mAh battery is built in, with no AAA backup, and the USB-C cable is not included
- The head tilt is hard to use with gloves (UKHillwalking, Chris Townsend)
- Comfort and beam are estimates, not reviewed scores: only two independent reviews found
