Our ratings (out of 10)

1 to 10, compared with the whole market. Each says what it's based on. How we score

Weight for its size

From maker's figures 6/10

How much it adds to your pack for the amount it holds. 6: A bit better than average.

Sea to Summit's pages disagree. Its US, Australian and EU pages give 105.7 g (no volume), and its UK feature list gives 475 ml; Basecamp Shop also lists 105.7 g and 475 ml, and Ultralight Outdoor Gear gives 106 g (and 400 ml). We band 105.7 g for 475 ml: 223 g per litre, in the 220-299 g/L band. The UK spec box (74 g and 335 ml) sits under the subtitle "Passage Cup" and matches Sea to Summit's separate Passage Cup (74 g, 355 ml in other shops' listings), so it looks pasted from that product. Read as it stands it is 221 g per litre, and 106 g for 400 ml is 265 g per litre: both the same band.

In short

Good for

  • Hot drinks at camp that stay warm longer than in a single-wall mug
  • Drinking without a handle: the fluted sides stay comfortable to hold
  • Measuring water for meals with the scale moulded inside

Strengths

  • Double-wall construction to keep drinks warm (Sea to Summit)
  • Cool Grip fluted sides and base, and a self-draining press-fit sipping lid
  • Graded volume scale inside
  • Sea to Summit says it is microwave and dishwasher safe

Weaknesses

  • 106 g is not light for 475 ml (223 g per litre)
  • No independent review found yet
  • Plastic mug for drinks only: not for use on a stove or fire
  • Sea to Summit's pages disagree on weight (74 g or 105.7 g) and size (335 or 475 ml)
