Weight for its size
From maker's figures 8/10How much it adds to your pack for the amount it holds. 8: Clearly better than most.
Sea to Summit's UK, US and Australian pages give 1.1 L and 201 g (its UK description said "1.3L size" in April 2024 and its EU page copy still says 1.3 L in one place). 201 g for 1.1 L = 183 g per litre, in the 150-219 g/L band. Ultralight Outdoor Gear sells the same kettle (same barcode and Sea to Summit product code) as "1.3 L, 205 g", which is 158 g per litre, the same band; we band the lower 1.1 L figure. Southwest Hikes says 1.2 L, and Hike and Seeker says the kettle's own mark shows 0.8 L as the safe fill; neither is banded.

In short
Good for
- One or two people boiling water for tea, coffee or freeze-dried meals
- Light packers who want a kettle that collapses to about 4 cm thick
- Making tea or coffee for two (Sea to Summit lists it for 2 people)
Strengths
- 201 g for 1.1 L, 183 g per litre
- Collapses flat: 15 cm across and 4.3 cm deep in Hike and Seeker's measurement
- Wide rim, so it also works as a small cooking pot (Sea to Summit)
- Lid has a silicone tab that hangs on the rim, and two glass-reinforced nylon handles for pouring
- Sea to Summit says it is BPA-free and PFOA-free; Southwest Hikes says it has a lifetime guarantee
Weaknesses
- Slow to boil: Hike and Seeker timed 600 ml at twice the time of a similar-weight pot, so it burns more gas
- The silicone must stay out of the flame: keep a small flame on the base. Not for open fires or induction hobs
- The kettle's own fill mark is 0.8 L, well under the 1.1 L brim (Hike and Seeker)
- The aluminium base isn't non-stick, so it is for boiling water rather than cooking
- Sizes disagree: Sea to Summit says 1.1 L, but one UK shop and some US shops list the same kettle as 1.3 L
