Our ratings (out of 10)
1 to 10, compared with the whole market. Each says what it's based on. How we score
Warmth
From reviews 7/10How warm it keeps you standing still at camp. 7: Better than most.
OutdoorGearLab calls it one of the warmest it tested and well suited to serious winter (men's S). CleverHiker found it warm to about -4 °C while moving but wanted about 2 °C when standing still at a belay. Short Reviews With Seth found it the right warmth in about 7 °C with one light layer. Reviews of the women's jacket (Switchback Travel, Better Trail) are not used: it has 145 g of down against 152 g in the men's M.
Weight
From maker's figures 7/10How much it adds to your pack. 7: Better than most.
Rab lists 428 g in size M, in the 350-449 g band. OutdoorGearLab weighed the men's S at 422 g. Rab no longer packs a stuff sack with it, so the earlier 459-467 g reviews included one.
