Our ratings (out of 10)
1 to 10, compared with the whole market. Each says what it's based on. How we score
Weight
From maker's figures 6/10How much it adds to your pack. This is the whole tent: two people sharing can split it. 6: A bit better than average.
The Ridge's total weight without pegs and bags is 1.72 kg (Blacks and Ultralight Outdoor Gear), in the 1.5-1.99 kg band; Live for the Outdoors lists 1.9 kg packed. The lighter 1.51 kg is the Dagger OSMO 2P, a different version with thinner fabrics.
Rain protection
From maker's figures 8/10How well it keeps out heavy, long rain. 8: Clearly better than most.
Fly and floor are both 3,000 mm (Blacks, Ultralight Outdoor Gear, Live for the Outdoors), the 3,000 mm+ band (the top band); the floor is over 2,000 mm so there is no deduction. The Dagger OSMO 2P, a separate version, has a 1,500 mm fly and 2,000 mm floor, so check the label on the tent you buy. The printed figure alone gives 8 at most: a 9 or 10 needs 3 reviews that say it stays dry in real storms.
Wind
From reviews 8/10How steady it stays in strong wind on open ground. 8: Clearly better than most.
Three testers rate the hubbed freestanding frame as stable: Switchback Travel had it stay upright all night in a thunderstorm, Better Trail says it feels planted in strong winds once guyed out, and Live for the Outdoors found it held firm on an exposed moorland ridge in Eryri (Snowdonia), though its near-vertical ends and taller profile catch some wind. Switchback and Better Trail tested the 2025 Dagger OSMO 2P, which has the same pole layout as the Ridge.
Space
From maker's figures 7/10Room to lie, sit up and keep kit inside. 7: Better than most.
Nemo's 2.8 m² floor ÷ 2 people = 1.4 m² each, in the 1.35–1.59 band; the floor is rectangular (224 x 127 cm) with a 109 cm peak, but at 127 cm wide two mats fit with little spare.
Packed size
From maker's figures 6/10How much room it takes in your rucksack. 6: A bit better than average.
Packs to 51 x 16 x 9 cm: 51 x 16 x 9 = 7,344 cm³, so 7.34 L, in the 7–9.9 L band.
What reviewers say (out of 10)
Ratings marked * are from reviews and are not part of the trip score. They are reviewers' scores, not our own measurements. How we score
Pitching*
Reviewers' average 8/10How quickly and easily one person can pitch it, including in wind and rain.
4 reviews on pitching, e.g. "The tent pitches relatively easily, although it is primarily designed to go up inner-first".
Reviewers disagree on this.
Condensation*
Reviewers' average 8/10How dry it stays inside on still, damp nights; higher is drier.
4 reviews on condensation, e.g. "not quite as effective on very humid nights compared to the overhead vents found in rivals".
Reviewers disagree on this.
In short
Good for
- Two people who want a roomy, freestanding tent for spring to autumn wild camps
- Wet UK trips where a fly that doesn't sag in long rain matters
- Pairs who will split the 1.8 kg carry between them
Strengths
- Rectangular 224 x 127 cm floor with near-vertical walls and a 109 cm peak, so two people can sit up and sleep head to toe
- Large twin vestibules (1.1 m² each) plus a clip-in waterproof Landing Zone tub for wet kit
- OSMO fabric resists stretching and sagging when wet, so it needs little retensioning in long rain
- Metal corner anchors allow one-handed tensioning; poles are colour-coded
- Stays up well in strong wind for a three-season tent, with a fully freestanding frame
Weaknesses
- Pitches inner first, so the inner gets wet if you put it up in rain
- Packed size 51 x 16 x 9 cm and 1.8 kg packed are bulky and heavy next to ultralight 2-person tents
- Only 8 stakes supplied, not enough to guy out every point in a gale
- Near-vertical end walls and the taller 2025 profile catch gusts, so pitch with care on exposed ground
- The door-top vents trim the top of each door when opened, and the fly is fiddly to attach to the centre bar when pitching alone
- No current durability test of the Ridge itself, so durability is an estimate, not a reviewed score
- Not the same as the Dagger OSMO 2P sold alongside it: the Ridge has 3,000 mm fabrics and weighs about 0.2 kg more
