Our ratings (out of 10)
1 to 10, compared with the whole market. Each says what it's based on. How we score
Warmth
Estimate from maker's specs: heavy fleece 5/10How warm they keep your hands at camp and on the move. 5: Does the job. Average for wild-camping gear.
Estimate from maker's specs
Weight
From maker's figures 8/10How much they add to your pack. 8: Clearly better than most.
60 g for the pair, Mountain Equipment's figure on its product page ('60g', size not stated): the 60-109 g band, exactly at its lower edge (under 60 g would be the 5 band). Cotswold's copy also says 60 g, though its data fields say 62 g, still in the band. The 99 g in Mountain Equipment's page data is a shipping weight and isn't used.
Waterproofing
From maker's figures 2/10How well they keep your hands dry and the wind out, from how they are made. 2: A weak point.
A stretch fleece glove (Polartec Power Stretch Pro). Mountain Equipment makes no windproof, water-repellent or waterproof claim for the glove, and sells it as a light, fast-drying glove: the 'no claim' band for fleece. Its site describes Power Stretch fabrics in general as more wind and water resistant than classic fleece, which is not a claim about this glove's finish.
