Montane lists a 'GORE-TEX glove insert, durably waterproof, windproof and breathable' under a stretch softshell and goat-leather outer with a PFC/PFAS-free water-repellent finish. A named GORE-TEX membrane with no published mm figure is the top waterproofing band (a sealed insert from a named membrane maker).
In short
Good for
- Cold, wet days in the hills and winter mountaineering where you want a waterproof glove you can still work in
- Montane describes it as the ideal mountain glove for harsh, tough conditions
- Montane's Connect touchscreen panel lets you use a phone without taking them off
Strengths
- GORE-TEX insert for waterproof, windproof protection at 130 g for the pair
- 100 g PrimaLoft Gold insulation with a brushed lining
- Goat-leather palm and knuckle protection, pre-curved fingers and thumb
- Touchscreen-compatible, with a low-profile single hook-and-loop cuff
- Buyers praise the balance of warmth and dexterity, and call them completely waterproof
Weaknesses
- One buyer says the fit is slightly tighter than other Montane gloves
- Fit is snug: one Montane reviewer swapped size L for XL as wet or swollen hands made them hard to pull on
- Not the thinnest or most flexible glove, one buyer says, given the insulation and waterproof insert
