Our ratings (out of 10)

1 to 10, compared with the whole market. Each says what it's based on. How we score

Weight

From maker's figures 7/10

How much the pair adds to your hands and pack. 7: Better than most.

Leki gives 196 g per pole on both pages, doubled to 392 g for the pair: the 300-449 g band. Ultralight Outdoor Gear lists 205 g (410 g a pair), the same band.

Packed size

From maker's figures 4/10

Whether they fit inside or along a rucksack. 4: A bit below average.

Leki.com gives 68 cm collapsed; Leki UK and SectionHiker give 67 cm. The more conservative 68 cm is used. Both are in the 65-74.9 cm band.

In short

Good for

  • Walkers who want carbon's low weight in a telescopic pole that still adjusts from 100 to 135 cm
  • Long days on firm paths and mountain trails where swing weight matters
  • Trekking-pole shelters that need poles reaching 135 cm

Strengths

  • 196 g per pole, 392 g a pair, in the 300-449 g band
  • Aluminium upper section with carbon middle and lower sections (HTS 6.5 and PRC 1000)
  • Wide 100-135 cm range on Speed Lock 2 Plus levers; SectionHiker found them very reliable
  • Slim Verticon foam grip with a foam extension; the grip and D-Loop Mesh Strap weigh 28 g together (Leki)
  • Carbide Flex Tip that SectionHiker says can bend up to 30 degrees without damaging the shaft

Weaknesses

  • Packs to 68 cm, longer than a folding pole
  • SectionHiker found the grip narrow at the top for medium-sized hands
  • Leki says it is weight-optimised, needs particularly skilful and careful use, and is not for skiing
  • Lock, grip and durability scores are blank: only one independent test found
