Our ratings (out of 10)
1 to 10, compared with the whole market. Each says what it's based on. How we score
Weight
From maker's figures 5/10How much the pair adds to your hands and pack. 5: Does the job. Average for wild-camping gear.
Leki's international page for the current pole (product code 65621561S) gives 250 g per pole at 100-135 cm, doubled to 500 g for the pair: the 450-549 g band. Leki UK's page for the older code (65221561) gives 252 g, Ultralight Outdoor Gear 253 g a pole and Alpinetrek 500 g a pair, all in the same band; Leki's figure for the current pole is the one scored.
Packed size
From maker's figures 4/10Whether they fit inside or along a rucksack. 4: A bit below average.
Leki's international page for the current pole gives 68 cm collapsed (Ultralight Outdoor Gear and Alpinetrek agree; Leki UK's older code gives 67 cm): the 65-74.9 cm band either way.
In short
Good for
- Walkers on a budget who want shock absorption on long descents
- Hillwalkers with sore knees or heavy packs
- Walkers who pitch a trekking-pole shelter and need poles that reach 135 cm
Strengths
- Leki's Dynamic Suspension System (DSS) tip, which Leki says cuts impact by about 40%
- Aluminium HTS 6.5 shaft, 250 g per pole (500 g a pair)
- Wide 100-135 cm length range on external Speed Lock Plus levers
- Aergon grip in 2K CorTec with a Soft Strap 2.0
Weaknesses
- Packs to 67 cm, much longer than a folding pole
- The DSS tip must always be used with a basket and not in snow (Leki)
- Leki UK (older code) and Leki's international shop show it as unavailable at the time of checking, so only retailers sell it now
- Lock, grip and durability scores are blank: no independent hands-on review found
