Our ratings (out of 10)
1 to 10, compared with the whole market. Each says what it's based on. How we score
Weight
From maker's figures 1/10How much it adds to your pack. This is the whole tent: two people sharing can split it. 1: A real weak point.
Listed weight is 5.1 kg (Millets and Alpinetrek; Attwoolls lists 5.6 kg), in the 2.7 kg+ band.
Rain protection
Estimate from maker's specs: maker's season rating (no waterproof figure published) 5/10How well it keeps out heavy, long rain. 5: Does the job. Average for wild-camping gear.
Estimate from maker's specs
Wind
Estimate from maker's specs: maker's season rating (fewer than 3 reviews about wind) 5/10How steady it stays in strong wind on open ground. 5: Does the job. Average for wild-camping gear.
No published review says how it copes with wind, so this is an estimate from the maker's season rating.
Space
Estimate from maker's specs: berths and tent shape (no floor area published) 5/10Room to lie, sit up and keep kit inside. 5: Does the job. Average for wild-camping gear.
Estimate from maker's specs
Packed size
From maker's figures 1/10How much room it takes in your rucksack. 1: A real weak point.
Kampa's own page gives the pack as 61 x 22 x 19 cm: 61 x 22 x 19 = 25,498 cm³, so 25.5 L, in the 15 L+ band (Attwoolls and Alpinetrek say 61 x 21 x 19, 24.3 L, in the same band).
In short
Good for
- Campsite trips by car where weight and pack size don't matter
- Two people who want a roomy A-frame with a front canopy and two doors
- Warm-weather camping where airflow matters
Strengths
- Front door that also works as a poled canopy, plus a full-width side door
- Double-layer build with a mesh door panel for airflow and less condensation
- 68D silicone-coated ripstop polyester flysheet and aluminium poles
- Optional footprint groundsheet sold separately
Weaknesses
- No independent hands-on review found, so wind, pitching and durability are estimates, not reviewed scores
- Neither the fly nor the floor waterproof rating is published, so rain is an estimate, not a reviewed score
- 5.1 kg and about 24 L packed: too big and heavy to carry on foot
- Pitch time quoted at 12 minutes
- Shops disagree on weight (5.1 kg or 5.6 kg) and pack size
