Our ratings (out of 10)
1 to 10, compared with the whole market. Each says what it's based on. How we score
Weight
From maker's figures 7/10How much it adds to your pack. 7: Better than most.
Jetboil's UK page gives the weight in US units (about 94 g), and UKClimbing and Live For The Outdoors quote Jetboil's own figure as 95 g (used here). Trekitt lists 94 g; UKClimbing and Live For The Outdoors weighed 97 g and We Are Explorers 98 g. All sit in the 60-119 g band. With the bag and canister stand it weighs about 134-138 g.
Packed size
From maker's figures 7/10How much room it takes in your rucksack. 7: Better than most.
Jetboil's UK page gives the folded size in US units, about 5.1 x 7.6 cm, without the canister. Worked as a roll, 7.6 cm long and 5.1 cm across: 3.14 x 2.55 x 2.55 x 7.6 = 155 cm3, about 0.155 L, in the 0.08-0.19 L band. Trekitt lists the same 5 x 7.6 cm. Live For The Outdoors measured about 7.5 x 6 cm (0.21 L) and Cool of the Wild 7.7 x 5.4 cm (0.18 L); we band Jetboil's figure.
Boil speed (still air)
Estimate from maker's specs: burner power figure (no boil time published) 5/10How fast the maker says it boils 1 litre in still air. Wind slows every stove: see Wind performance. 5: Does the job. Average for wild-camping gear.

Wind performance
From reviews 4/10How well it keeps boiling in a breeze, as sold, without an extra windshield. 4: A bit below average.
Reviewers say it needs shelter, and none timed it in the 3-6 km/h reference breeze. UKClimbing (Toby Archer): needs shelter from all but the gentlest breezes, the flame blew out several times and he built a tall windshield (2). Live For The Outdoors: a sudden gust can blow out the flame, and it is worse than the SOTO WindMaster and MSR PocketRocket Deluxe (2). We Are Explorers: no wind protection, so it is exposed to crosswinds, which hurts efficiency; his fix is to block the wind or run it at full power (2). Scores 2, 2, 2: average 2 out of 5, so 4 out of 10.
In short
Good for
- Solo or two-person walkers who want to simmer a real meal, not just boil water
- Three-season trips, and shoulder-season camping down to about -6 °C (the temperature Jetboil rates the regulator for)
- Anyone who already owns a Jetboil FluxRing pot, which fits the supports without a pot support
Strengths
- Four-turn regulator valve gives very fine flame control, from a gentle simmer to full power (all four reviewers who rate it)
- Regulated for consistent output down to -6 °C (Jetboil), so it holds up as the canister empties or gets cold
- 95 g for the stove, with a push-button igniter and a fold-out canister stand in the box
- Live For The Outdoors boiled 0.5 L in 2 min 49 s at 17 °C in a wind of about 10 km/h
- Packs to about 5 cm x 7.6 cm
Weaknesses
- Poor in wind: UKClimbing saw the flame blow out several times, Live For The Outdoors says it must be kept sheltered, and We Are Explorers calls it exposed to crosswinds
- Stands tall (10 cm from canister top to pot base, Live For The Outdoors) and the flat tops of the supports let small pots slide (UKClimbing, Live For The Outdoors)
- The igniter wire is exposed and can fail: UKClimbing's stopped lighting the gas until bent back. Carry a lighter
- Needs several turns of the valve to reach full power
- Jetboil UK's page gives no 1-litre boil time (only 'roughly three minutes'), so boil speed is an estimate, not a reviewed score
