Our ratings (out of 10)
1 to 10, compared with the whole market. Each says what it's based on. How we score
Waterproof build
From maker's figures 6/10How well its build keeps water out, from the published seams, closure and submersion claim. 6: A bit better than average.
Fjallraven says PU-coated recycled 210D polyamide with taped seams and a roll-top closed with a metal hook. It says "not submersible", so there is no submersion claim: the 3 band.
Weight for its size
From maker's figures 7/10How much it adds to your pack for the space it protects. 7: Better than most.
110 g for 20 L is 5.5 g/L, in the 4.0–5.9 g/L band (Fjallraven's UK, German and Swedish pages all say 110 g). Ultralight Outdoor Gear lists 134 g (6.7 g/L, the next band down); we band the brand's own figure.
In short
Good for
- A hardwearing pack liner or clothes bag for a long trek where a thin ultralight bag would not last
- Rain protection on UK hill trips when kept inside the pack
- Not for river crossings or anything that may go under water
Strengths
- 210D recycled polyamide, much tougher than 15D to 40D ultralight bags
- Seam-taped, with a roll-top and a metal hook closure
- Wide opening, easy to load
- Reflective logo on the side
Weaknesses
- Fjallraven says it is not submersible
- 110 g for 20 L (5.5 g/L), heavier than ultralight dry bags of the same size
- A UK shop gives a different weight (Ultralight Outdoor Gear says 134 g)
- No independent tests found, so durability and ease are estimates, not reviewed scores
