Our ratings (out of 10)
1 to 10, compared with the whole market. Each says what it's based on. How we score
Weight
From maker's figures 3/10How much it adds to your pack. This is the whole tent: two people sharing can split it. 3: Below average. Fine for some trips, not others.
Fjallraven's minimum weight of 2.35 kg sits in the 2.0-2.69 kg band (2.70 kg with pegs, guylines and sack; Walkhighlands weighed 2.89 kg packed).
Rain protection
From maker's figures 8/10How well it keeps out heavy, long rain. 8: Clearly better than most.
Fly 3,000 mm is in the 3,000 mm+ band, and the 6,000 mm floor is over 2,000 mm, so no point is taken off. Some shops print a 10,000 mm floor, but Fjallraven's page says 6,000 mm. The printed figure alone gives 8 at most: a 9 or 10 needs 3 reviews that say it stays dry in real storms.
Wind
Estimate from maker's specs: maker's season rating (fewer than 3 reviews about wind) 5/10How steady it stays in strong wind on open ground. 5: Does the job. Average for wild-camping gear.
No published review says how it copes with wind, so this is an estimate from the maker's season rating.
Space
From maker's figures 7/10Room to lie, sit up and keep kit inside. 7: Better than most.
Fjallraven's size drawing gives an inner of 220 x 130 cm: 2.86 m² ÷ 2 people = 1.43 m² each, in the 1.35-1.59 band. Height is 110 cm and each side has a door and a porch 80 cm deep.
Packed size
From maker's figures 5/10How much room it takes in your rucksack. 5: Does the job. Average for wild-camping gear.
Packs to 44 cm long x 16 cm across: 3.1416 x 8 x 8 x 44 = 8,847 cm³, so 8.85 L, in the 7-9.9 L band.
What reviewers say (out of 10)
Ratings marked * are from reviews and are not part of the trip score. They are reviewers' scores, not our own measurements. How we score
Pitching*
Reviewers' average 6/10How quickly and easily one person can pitch it, including in wind and rain.
5 reviews on pitching, e.g. "The tent is really easy to assemble.".
Reviewers disagree on this.
Condensation*
Estimate: only 1 review about condensation (fewer than the 3 we need, so never above 8) 8/10How dry it stays inside on still, damp nights; higher is drier.
1 review on condensation, e.g. "venting is good".
Durability*
Reviewers' average 7/10How well the fabric, poles, zips and seams hold up over seasons of use.
3 reviews on durability, e.g. "very durable and extremely light at the same time".
In short
Good for
- Two people on summer or mild-weather camps who want views and a lot of airflow
- Warm, midgey nights: both sides can roll right back with the mesh inner still closed
- Lake shores, beaches and sheltered ground where wind stays light
Strengths
- Both vestibules roll right back, so you can lie and look out with a mesh inner keeping insects off
- Roomy for two: 220 x 130 cm inner, 110 cm high, a door and a porch on each side
- The inner can stand without pegs, so you can move it to find the best spot
- Fly 3,000 mm and floor 6,000 mm, and a good repair kit in the box
- Six inner pockets, a clothes line and gear loft fixings
Weaknesses
- Fjallraven rates it for three seasons, and Westie Travels saw a pole bend right down in 65-80 km/h wind: it is not the tent for exposed ground or a gale
- Heavier than most two-person tents of its type: 2.35 kg minimum, 2.7 kg with pegs and sack
- Pole sleeves can be confusing to feed: reviewers swapped the poles on a first try
- The vestibules need pegs and guylines to hold their shape, so it is not fully freestanding
- A Noble & Blue owner found the vestibules small for a large rucksack
- The independent reviews we found date from 2016 to 2024; Fjallraven's weight, fabrics and poles for the tent are the same on its 2020 page (archived) and in the 2017 review
