Our ratings (out of 10)
1 to 10, compared with the whole market. Each says what it's based on. How we score
Weight
From maker's figures 4/10How much it adds to your pack. 4: A bit below average.
Fire-Maple gives 225 g on both its UK and US pages (Ultralight Outdoor Gear lists 226 g). That sits in the 180-299 g band.
Packed size
From maker's figures 5/10How much room it takes in your rucksack. 5: Does the job. Average for wild-camping gear.
Fire-Maple gives the folded size as 90 x 60 mm. Its photos show a squat disc (the burner with the legs and pot supports folded in and the hose wrapped round it), so 90 mm is the diameter and 60 mm the height, not a roll. Worked as a box, 9 x 9 x 6 = 486 cm3, about 0.49 L, in the 0.2-0.59 L band. Set up it measures 165 x 71 mm.
Boil speed (still air)
From maker's figures 4/10How fast the maker says it boils 1 litre in still air. Wind slows every stove: see Wind performance. 4: A bit below average.
Fire-Maple's two pages disagree: its UK page says about 3.5 minutes (210 s) for 1 litre and its US page 2 min 30 s for 0.5 L. We use the slower, 2 min 30 s scaled to 300 s for 1 litre, in the 300-479 s band (the UK figure would be 210 s, band 4). Neither page gives the water temperature or wind. No reviewer timed it.
Wind performance
Estimate from maker's specs: windshield in the box 3/10How well it keeps boiling in a breeze, as sold, without an extra windshield. 3: Below average. Fine for some trips, not others.

In short
Good for
- Camp cooking for one or two where a low, steady stove matters more than weight
- Larger pots and frying pans: the remote layout keeps the pot close to the ground
Strengths
- Remote layout: the canister sits to the side on a hose, so the stove sits low and steady (Fire-Maple)
- Fire-Maple quotes 3 kW output and the pot supports fold out to a 16.5 cm span
- Built-in piezo igniter and a flame-control valve
- Folds to a 90 x 60 mm disc
Weaknesses
- 225 g and about 0.49 L packed: several times the weight and bulk of a canister-top stove
- Fire-Maple's UK page gives 3.5 minutes for 1 litre and its US page 2 min 30 s for 0.5 L, so we use the slower figure (5 minutes for 1 litre)
- No regulator and no preheat tube: Fire-Maple says to keep the canister upright, so output falls as the canister gets cold or low, and it is not winter-ready
- Fire-Maple's own FAQ says to keep a lighter handy because wind, moisture or wear can stop the piezo igniter; one US buyer's igniter stopped after four uses
- No independent review found of this model, so wind and control are estimates, not reviewed scores
