Our ratings (out of 10)
1 to 10, compared with the whole market. Each says what it's based on. How we score
Weight
From maker's figures 6/10How much it adds to your pack. 6: A bit better than average.
Fire-Maple gives 135 g on both its UK and US pages, in the 120-179 g band. Kane Does Outdoors weighed 138 g and Ultralight Outdoor Gear lists 142 g (shop figure); all three are in the same band. The mesh bag is extra.
Packed size
From maker's figures 6/10How much room it takes in your rucksack. 6: A bit better than average.
Fire-Maple gives 75 x 89 mm folded (75 mm across, 89 mm long, the same way it gives the FMS-125 Pro), worked as a roll 8.9 cm long and 7.5 cm across: 3.14 x 3.75 x 3.75 x 8.9 = 393 cm3, about 0.39 L. The other way round it would be about 0.47 L. Both are in the 0.2-0.59 L band.
Boil speed (still air)
From maker's figures 3/10How fast the maker says it boils 1 litre in still air. Wind slows every stove: see Wind performance. 3: Below average. Fine for some trips, not others.
Fire-Maple's UK page gives 3 min 25 s for 0.5 L, doubled to 410 s for 1 litre (scaled), in the 300-479 s band. Its US page gives no time.
Wind performance
Estimate from maker's specs: windshield in the box 3/10How well it keeps boiling in a breeze, as sold, without an extra windshield. 3: Below average. Fine for some trips, not others.

In short
Good for
- Cold-season and winter walks where a low remote stove with a preheat tube is wanted, in a light 135 g package
- Solo trips with a 1-litre pot or a wider pan: three titanium supports and a low, steady layout
- Walkers moving from a canister-top stove who want better stability on uneven ground and in a tent porch
Strengths
- 135 g for a remote stove with a titanium burner, supports and legs
- Low and steady on three legs; reviewers like it on rock and uneven ground
- Preheat tube and a hose that lets the canister be warmed or inverted; Fire-Maple sells it for winter camping and Aurora Borealis Knives used it in winter
- Control valve on the hose gives real low-heat control (Camp Life bushcraft)
- Cools down fast because it is titanium (Camp Life bushcraft)
Weaknesses
- No built-in igniter: a lighter is needed (Fire-Maple, Camp Life bushcraft)
- Fire-Maple's UK page calls it 'perfect for winter camping' and its US page 'cold-weather', with no temperature rating, so we mark it winter-ready from Fire-Maple's words; Kane Does Outdoors found it sputtered with the canister inverted at about 0 °C and would not rely on it for winter camping
- Kane Does Outdoors was wary of the riveted leg stops and of hard use; the mesh bag is fiddly (Camp Life bushcraft)
- Bulkier than a stove that screws onto the canister, at about 0.39 L folded
- The preheat tube lifts the burner, so Fire-Maple says it does not fit its Petrel G2 and G3 pots
- No wind test found and Fire-Maple's US page gives no boil time
