Our ratings (out of 10)

1 to 10, compared with the whole market. Each says what it's based on. How we score

Weight

From maker's figures 6/10

How much it adds to your pack. This is the whole tent: two people sharing can split it. 6: A bit better than average.

Exped's minimum weight of 1.65 kg is in the 1.5–1.99 kg band (1.85 kg maximum; Outdoor Magazin weighed one at 1.82 kg).

Rain protection

From maker's figures 8/10

How well it keeps out heavy, long rain. 8: Clearly better than most.

Fly 3,000 mm is in the 3,000 mm+ band; the 5,000 mm floor is over 2,000 mm, so no point comes off. The printed figure alone gives 8 at most: a 9 or 10 needs 3 reviews that say it stays dry in real storms.

Wind

Estimate from maker's specs: maker's season rating (fewer than 3 reviews about wind) 5/10

How steady it stays in strong wind on open ground. 5: Does the job. Average for wild-camping gear.

No published review says how it copes with wind, so this is an estimate from the maker's season rating.

Space

From maker's figures 4/10

Room to lie, sit up and keep kit inside. 4: A bit below average.

Outdoor Magazin measures 2.1 m² of usable inner floor, so 2.1 ÷ 2 people = 1.05 m² each, in the 0.95–1.14 band. Exped's 2.8 m² is the canopy area (a 215 x 130 cm rectangle) and is not used for the score.

Packed size

From maker's figures 4/10

How much room it takes in your rucksack. 4: A bit below average.

Packs to 47 x 18 cm: 3.1416 x 9 x 9 x 47 = 11,960 cm³, so 11.96 L, in the 10–14.9 L band. Alpinetrek gives 46 x 14 cm and Outdoor Magazin 5.6 L, so the true figure may be smaller.

In short

Good for

  • Two people on multi-day three-season treks who want tough fabric at a modest weight
  • Mild-weather wild camps where good ventilation and a freestanding inner (pitchable alone) help

Strengths

  • 1.65 kg minimum for a freestanding double-wall two-person tent
  • Double-sided silicone 30D fly rated 3,000 mm, over a 40D floor rated 5,000 mm
  • Four adjustable vents and a part-mesh inner give good airflow
  • Two doors, each with its own vestibule (1.7 m² in total), and a gear loft
  • Inner tent can be pitched without the fly; Outdoor Magazin rated it 'very good' in a 2025 test

Weaknesses

  • Exped's packed size is 47 x 18 cm (about 12 L), bulky for the weight; other sources give smaller figures
  • Outdoor Magazin finds it 15–20 % heavier than most ultralight tents, and nearly 600 euros is not cheap
  • Snug for two: the usable inner floor is 2.1 m² (Outdoor Magazin), well under Exped's 2.8 m² canopy area, so check it against two wide mats
  • Three-season only: Exped made it for thru-hiking, not storms or snow
  • Footprint is sold separately
  • Only one independent test of this version found, so wind, pitching and durability scores are missing
