Our ratings (out of 10)
1 to 10, compared with the whole market. Each says what it's based on. How we score
Weight
From maker's figures 7/10How much it adds to your pack. 7: Better than most.
Berghaus's own pages (the product page in both colours and its German version) give 0.191 kg with no size, which is in the 160–199 g band. Blacks, Millets and GO Outdoors, which share one block of copy, say 'approx. 260 g (size L)', which would be the 2 band. That figure appears on no Berghaus page we could find, so we treat it as a shop figure and band Berghaus's 191 g. The two differ by 69 g.
Warmth
Estimate from maker's specs: fibre (no fabric weight published) 5/10How much the fabric insulates next to your skin. Heavier fabric is warmer and slower to dry. 5: Does the job. Average for wild-camping gear.
Estimate from maker's specs
In short
Good for
- Hot or high-effort days: fast walking, scrambling and running, where Berghaus says it keeps you cool
- A relaxed T-shirt-style long sleeve for sun cover
- Summer wild camps as a light sleeping or sun-cover top
Strengths
- Polartec Delta fabric, which Berghaus says wicks, dries fast and keeps you cool without chilling you
- Merrow-stitch seams moved away from rub points, per Berghaus
- Relaxed T-shirt cut with gussets
- Covered by Berghaus's free Repairhaus repair service
Weaknesses
- Berghaus publishes no fabric weight, so warmth is an estimate, not a reviewed score
- Weight figures disagree: 191 g (Berghaus's own table, no size) against 260 g (size L, copy used by Blacks, Millets and GO Outdoors); we band Berghaus's 191 g
- Built to keep you cool, not warm: a poor choice as a winter base layer
- No independent hands-on test found, so comfort, odour and durability are estimates, not reviewed scores
- The shops' copy lists an internal zipped chest pocket that Berghaus's own page does not mention
