Our ratings (out of 10)
1 to 10, compared with the whole market. Each says what it's based on. How we score
Warmth
From maker's figures 2/10How well it stops the cold ground chilling you. 2: A weak point.
Alpkit's R-value of 1.8 is under R 2: summer only. Alpkit's R-value guide says its figures follow ASTM F3340-22, though the Dumo page does not repeat it.
Thickness
From maker's figures 10/10How deep it is. Deeper is comfier, above all for side sleepers. 10: The best you can buy for this.
10 cm thick.
Quietness
Estimate from maker's specs: mat type (fewer than 3 reviews about noise) 5/10How little it crinkles or squeaks when you turn over. 5: Does the job. Average for wild-camping gear.
No review we found says how noisy it is, so this is an estimate from the mat type.
Weight
From maker's figures 5/10How much it adds to your pack. 5: Does the job. Average for wild-camping gear.
670 g sits in the 550–749 g band.
Packed size
From maker's figures 6/10How much room it takes in or on your rucksack. 6: A bit better than average.
Alpkit gives a pack 35 cm long and 10 cm across: 3.1416 x 5 x 5 x 35 = 2,749 cm³, about 2.75 L, in the 2.5–3.9 L band.
In short
Good for
- Summer wild camps and bothy trips where you want a thick, comfortable mat and weight is secondary
- Anyone who dislikes blowing up a mat by mouth
- Bikepacking and car-boot camping in warm weather
Strengths
- 10 cm thick for a mat that weighs 670 g
- Built-in foam pump, so no breath (and no breath moisture) goes into the mat
- Separate deflation valve, and packs to about 2.75 L
Weaknesses
- Not warm: R 1.8 is summer only on its own
- Heavier and bulkier than lightweight air mats such as Alpkit's own Numo (350 g)
- The foam pump takes many presses to fill it (about a hundred, said a reviewer of an earlier model)
- Only one independent review was found, and it tested an earlier build, so comfort and durability are estimates, not reviewed scores
