Affiliate disclosure: how we make money
Some links on Fellkit are adverts. Here's exactly what that means.
Links marked Ad
Links marked Ad are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, the shop pays us a small commission. It costs you nothing extra, and the price is the same as going to the shop directly.
We label these links as ads to follow the UK advertising rules (the CAP Code), and we tell search engines they are paid links too.
What commission never changes
- Scores. They follow our published rules and nothing else. A product with a bad score stays on the site.
- Which products we cover. We pick what UK wild campers actually buy and what's well reviewed, at every price.
- The lowest price we show. The "Lowest price we found" box on each product page shows the cheapest shop we found that can sell it now, whether it pays us or not, and the date we checked.
Nobody pays us to list a product or for a score.
The order of shops
Under "Where to buy", shops with an Ad label come first, cheapest first. Then the shops that don't pay us, cheapest first. Shops that are out of stock go last. Some shops we link to don't pay us anything.
Free samples and loans
Brands sometimes send or lend us gear to test. Free gear is a benefit to us, so:
- Brands get no say over what we write or the scores. They don't see the review first and can't have a bad one taken down.
- The product page says so plainly: "Sent free by" or "Lent by" and the brand's name, at the top of its Tested by us section.
- It never changes which products we cover or recommend. We only take gear we'd cover anyway.
- We don't keep it. After the test it goes back to the brand, or to a charity or youth group. We never sell samples.
Nobody pays us for a review. Our full rules
Cookies from shops
Fellkit sets no cookies. When you click through to a shop, the shop and its affiliate network may set their own cookies to record that you came from us. That happens on their site and their privacy policy applies. Our privacy notice
